Dry eye disease is a disorder of the tear film due to a reduced production or excessive evaporation of tears. It can cause damage to exposed ocular surface tissue and may be associated with discomfort, pain, irritation, redness and intermittent blurred vision.
Evaporative dry eye (86% of cases) may be caused by a malfunction of the tear glands in the eyelids. Dry Eye caused by decreased tear production may be the result of systemic disease.
Whether your dry eyes are evaporative or due to reduced production our doctors have the knowledge and specialized equipment to provide you treatment and relief.
As well as additional treatment plans that may be recommended by our doctors.
This equipment uses two medical technologies in synergy to optimize your dry eye treatment.
OPEĀ® (IPL) is a polychromatic light that uses thermal pulses to stimulate the Meibomian glands to resume normal activities. Applied to the periorbital areas and cheekbone, it stimulates contraction of the glands, increasing the lipid stream and reducing the evaporation of tears.
Light Modulation (LLLT) is a unique technology of photobiomodulation. The emission of a particular light at a certain wavelength - triggers an endogenous heating of the eyelids. This treatment stabilizes the lipid layer of the tears and increases ATP production.
